Naughty or Nice Love Challenge--NON1

Hi everyone :)   I always get a good laugh from anything with a double entendre.  Seemingly innocent things that could have a completely different meaning if you simply let your mind take a trip to Gutter City are always humorous. Some call it immature, but I prefer to say that I can embrace my ability to allow my mind to wander and can appreciate someone's efforts to be silly :)  Having said this, I'm sure you could imagine my excitement when I discovered the brand new Naughty or Nice card challenge!  Jackpot! Right up my alley! Let's let the games begin!

For this challenge I sought out the talent of my friend J.  I knew exactly what I wanted, but I did not have a stamp, so being the awesome person and artist that he is, he made one for me :) He loves to draw, so I knew he'd be able to get the job done.  The theme for this month's Naughty or Nice challenge is love, so here is my (and J's) creation:

Isn't this hilarious?!?!  I absolutely love it! Not only did it fit the bill of the challenge perfectly, the execution was fantastic! I'm so happy with how it turned out, and yes, I still get a giggle whenever I look at it.

So, how'd I do it? I colored the image with a load of Copic markers, but had so much trouble trying to figure out what background to use with it.  Since I loved the idea of silly and cheesy, I decided to go for a glittery tie-dye.  I used Glossy Accents on the heart and on this Casanova's teeth.  The little hearts are embossed with clear embossing powder, and I adhered the white part of the card with dimensionals.

I hope you got a laugh out of this one! I had a lot of fun with it :)

Happy Valentine's Day Snowman--Paper Smooches Fun and Cute Challenge

Hi there :) It's celebration time over at Paper Smooches and in honor of their anniversary, the lovely owner, Kim, is having a fun and cute challenge! Since I can absolutely do fun and cute, and since I'm all about challenges because I finally have this blog (still celebrating!), I decided to join!  I made this adorable Valentine's Day card for my little guy and he thought it was so pretty :)

Here is a close-up of the snowman.  I made him glittery because  I love sparkly snow and I have Mother Nature to thank for piling it up high this year :)  I made the heart in the sentiment glossy to add interest.

I used the Freezy Fellas stamp set from Paper Smooches and I must say it's absolutely adorable and the quality is fantastic! I wanted to note that I am so happy with their customer service. I emailed them this week expressing gratitude for low shipping costs, and the owner actually emailed me back! She was honest, appreciative and genuine, all qualities I really value and respect. Thanks again, Kim!

Back to the card.  In addition to the stamp set, I also used the following supplies:
clear embossing powder, Versamark, Memento ink, Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 8, Copic markers, Glossy Accents, pop dots, and some really stretchy string that I got at a yard sale last year. It worked great because I could move the sentiment around before deciding where I wanted it.  I'm really happy with how this card turned out and the smile on my son's face when he opened it was absolutely priceless :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love making Valentine's for my son's class, but he's a boy and even though he appreciates them, not all boys (or parents of boys) appreciate a pink Valentine with red hearts covered with the word "love'. Even though my son is young and he finds the beauty in these things, I wanted something more boy-ish to avoid any preschool drama, so I hit the internet for some options and came across the cutest dinosaur Valentine on Life in Wonderland, which I used as inspiration.

My son loved helping me with this project! He helped cut the paper, color the dinosaurs, picked what pieces of candy would go on whose card, and even helped glue them down....all while not stealing a single piece which is amazing because we are a family of chocoholics!  He was such a big helper and the card turned out so adorable:

I just LOVE this!  Super cute, huh?!?

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Valentine's Day :)

This is the one!--DS #137

Hi there! Here is an entry for Deconstructed Sketch #137 over at Deconstructing Jen. The story behind this card is rather emotional and long, so I will just leave it at that I was searching and searching for the perfect stamp set to send the most perfectly appropriate thank you card, and finally got my hands on one. I used the Doxie with Moxie stamp set from There She Goes and it turned out absolutely perfect. Not too shabby for my first card with Copics either, huh?!? It's another entry for the Deconstructed Jen sketch #157.

Thanks for stopping by! Quick entry tonight :)
